People tend to confuse negative thoughts with stress. They are actually two separate things. Thoughts that are detrimental to your health and wellbeing are only emotions. The anxiety response does not consist of thoughts. It is important to understand the root causes of your anxiety and how you can cope.

For example, if you wake up feeling anxious, you might tell yourself, “Huh! I feel slightly nervous this morning.” I’ll have be extra careful to ease up today. This self talk will calm down the anxious feelings. “Wow, I really feel anxious,” you could say to yourself.
